Global supply of panels used in notebooks, LCD monitors and TVs is expected to remain tight until the fourth quarter of 2014 or the first quarter of 2015, according to Innolux president Wang Jyh-chau speaking at a July 28 investors conference.
For peak demand in the third quarter, Innolux expects production to be insufficient to meet ordered volumes but has inventories to reduce the gap, Wang said. Innolux expects shipments for the third quarter to remain unchanged on quarter but ASP will rise, Wang noted.
Viewing that in-car panels have longer product life-cycles and more stable demand than panels used in consumer electronics, Innolux has become an OEM supplier for automobile manufacturers and has been tapping the after-sale market, Wang said.
